Goal #1: To develop a sense of belonging and community with students and staff by creating personal connections among various school groups.
Towards this goal we will:
· Utilize the information available through school records to be knowledgeable about each student. · Expand our knowledge of social/emotional information about students through documentation of information on student data cards (maintained by each student’s homeroom teacher) · Participating to the extent possible in school activities with staff and/or students. · Utilize the weekly “Connections” time to meet with a small group of students and have conversations to engage students in a relationship with an adult who knows him or her well.
Goal #2: To increase students’ literacy skills in all academic areas.
Towards this goal we will:
· Plan weekly lessons that include reading and writing in each class every day to the extent possible. · Include ongoing explicit, direct instruction in reading and comprehension strategies in all academic disciplines. · Provide frequent opportunities for varied types of writing which is assessed and for which feedback is provided to students in all academic disciplines using the 6 Traits program.
Goal #3: To demonstrate accountability for student learning through improved local and state assessment scores.
Towards this goal we will:
· Conscientiously plan lessons that reflect and reference current New Hampshire frameworks, Grade Span Expectations, and Grade Level Expectations. · Take explicit steps to motivate students to demonstrate knowledge and skills on local and statewide assessments. · Utilize student assessment data, both formative and summative, to plan lessons and guide instruction.
Goal #4: To increase students’ mathematics skills in computation, math fluency, and word problem solving.
Towards this goal we will:
· Plan lessons that include mathematics instruction in mathematics classes and other academic areas whenever possible. · Include ongoing explicit, direct instruction in word problem solving strategies in all academic disciplines whenever possible. · Provide frequent opportunities for varied types of math activities which are assessed and for which feedback is provided to students in all academic disciplines. · Provide ongoing remediation through Math Plus and Math Lab for students who perform below proficient at their current grade level.

Towards this goal we will:
· Determine the essential skills and knowledge necessary for success in each subject. · Develop a sequence for teaching the essential skills and knowledge for each grade level. · Develop formative and summative assessments to determine the academic needs and successes of each student and to guide lesson planning. · Develop report cards which provide students and parents clear information about student success in achieving the competencies for each grade level.
